Crack the Shell reworks material from Double Monody for guitar and clavichord and 100 Not-Songs for JOHN CAGE for voice. There is no score in the traditional sense. The work Double Monody is performed in its entirety (complete, with its attendant mobility). Crack the Shell overlays several Not-Songs on the unique form of Double Monody chosen for each performance.
