cores e coros (2012)
for Iberian Organ
Duration: 4’30
Commissioned by Associação Musical Pro-Organo AMPO; Portuguese Ministry of Culture
Cores e coros was commissioned by Edite Rocha and the Association Pro-Organo, Portugal.
The work was written specifically for the Iberian Organ, the single manual instrument, with its characteristic horizontal rank of pipes commonly found in local churches throughout Portugal.
This single manual may be split into several sets of pipes, and the title, meaning “colors and choirs” is a reference to the constantly varying timbres that the material undergoes as it is heard moving through physical space (choirs of pipes) across the course of the piece.
